Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

This policy explains what personal data MockGhar (mockghar.com) collects, how it is used and what your rights are. It is written with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000 in mind.

1. Who we are

MockGhar is run by the MockGhar team. For any question about your data, write to support@mockghar.com.

2. What we collect

  • Registration: first name, last name (optional), email, 10-digit mobile number and password; optionally your state, qualification and exams.
  • Password: only in one-way encrypted form (a scrypt hash); we can never see your actual password.
  • Email verification and password reset codes: only as hashes, valid for 10 minutes.
  • Mock tests: your answers, score, time and chosen language.
  • Settings: chosen exams, alert types, language, quiet hours, last-date reminder days and jobs you asked to be reminded about.
  • Push notifications: the subscription details of each device where you turned alerts on.
  • Security: your IP address and the time of logins, registrations and code requests (for a short period).
  • Messages you send through the contact form.

3. Why we use it

  • To create and run your account and keep you logged in
  • To send email verification and password reset codes
  • To send alerts and last-date reminders for the exams you choose
  • To save mock tests, let you resume them and show results and analysis
  • To keep the website secure and prevent misuse
  • To reply to your messages

4. Your consent

At registration you accept the Terms and this Privacy Policy; we use your data for the purposes above on the basis of that consent. Push notifications come only if you turn them on yourself.

You can withdraw consent at any time by turning alerts off or deleting your account. Use before withdrawal remains lawful.

5. Cookies and browser storage

We use only essential cookies, for example to keep you logged in and to remember your language and light/dark theme. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. The full list is on the Cookie Policy page.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell or rent your data or share it for anyone else’s marketing. Only these service providers process the part needed to run the service:

  • An email delivery service (for the emails with codes)
  • Browser push services (Google, Mozilla, Apple, Microsoft); they receive only an encrypted notification
  • Hosting and database services

7. Legal requirements

We may disclose information only on a valid request from an authorised body under Indian law.

8. Security

  • Passwords and codes are stored only as hashes
  • The login cookie cannot be read by JavaScript, and only its hash is kept on the server
  • Automatic logout after 5 minutes without activity (a running test keeps the session active)
  • Limits on wrong password and code attempts
  • Changing your password logs you out of every other device

Still, no system on the internet is 100% secure. Never share your password with anyone.

9. How long we keep data

  • Account, tests and settings: as long as your account exists
  • Security records (IP and time): for a short period, then removed automatically
  • Verification and password codes: useless after 10 minutes
  • When you delete your account: your profile, test results and settings are permanently erased, except anything the law requires us to keep

10. Your rights

  • The right to information about your data
  • The right to correct inaccurate data (also from Dashboard → Profile)
  • The right to erasure (Dashboard → Profile → ‘Delete account’)
  • The right to withdraw consent
  • The right to grievance redressal, and to approach the Data Protection Board if needed
  • The right to nominate someone to act for you in case of death or incapacity

To use these rights, write to support@mockghar.com from your account’s email address.

11. Users under 18

Many students (for example NEET aspirants) are under 18. If you are under 18, use MockGhar only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. We do not use children’s data for advertising or tracking.

12. Push notifications

Alerts go only to users who have verified their email and turned alerts on themselves. You can change alert types, language and quiet hours, and turn alerts off at any time from the dashboard or your browser settings.

13. Grievances and contact

For complaints about data or privacy, write to support@mockghar.com. We try to reply within 7 working days.

14. Changes to this policy

We may change this policy when needed; the ‘last updated’ date above will change. Major changes will be announced on the website. If advertising or analytics are ever added, this policy will be updated before they start.
