India Post Staff Car Driver Recruitment 2026

The Department of Posts (India Post) has issued a notification to fill 11 Staff Car Driver (Ordinary Grade) posts at the office of the Manager, Mail Motor Service, Bengaluru, on deputation or absorption basis. This is not a direct written exam; selection is based on applications from eligible serving government employees and on driving and trade tests. The pay is in Pay Level-2 (Rs.19900-63200) plus admissible allowances. Applications are offline and must be sent by speed post.

Eligibility

• Education: passed 10th standard from a recognised Board or institute
• Valid driving licence for Light and Heavy Motor Vehicles (LMV and HMV)
• Knowledge of motor mechanism, so that minor defects in vehicles can be fixed
• Driving experience of LMV and HMV for at least three years
• Eligible posts: regular Dispatch Riders (Group-C) or MTS (Group-C) in Pay Level-1 (Rs.18000-56900) in the Department of Posts
• Age: not exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications
• Desirable: three years of service as Home Guard or Civil Volunteer
• Reservation: no reservation provision exists for SC/ST for these posts

Application Fee

The notification does not mention any application fee.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on a driving test and a trade test, as per the pattern and syllabus in the Directorate letter dated 17.06.2022. Deputation is ordinarily for not more than three years. Re-employed persons have a probation period of two years.

• Attach the certificate from the forwarding authority (Annexure-II)
• Documents to attach: integrity certificate; list of penalties in last 10 years or a NIL certificate; vigilance clearance certificate; attested APARs for 2020-21 to 2024-25; experience certificate for LMV and HMV driving; valid driving licence; 10th standard certificate (attested by a Gazetted officer)

• Incomplete applications will be rejected without notice
• Candidature cannot be withdrawn after applying
