JKSSB JE Mechanical Recruitment 2026 - 127 Posts

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released Advertisement Notification No. 10 of 2026 (dated 21 October 2026) to fill 127 posts of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) in the Public Works (R&B) Department of Jammu and Kashmir. The pay is Level-6 (Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400). Online applications open on 16 November 2026 and the last date is 15 December 2026.

Vacancy Details

Category-wise posts: Open Merit 51, SC 10, ST-1 13, ST-2 13, OBC 10, ALC/IB 5, RBA 13, EWS 12. Horizontal reservation for ex-servicemen and persons with benchmark disabilities applies as per rules. The number of posts may increase or decrease before the selection is completed.

Eligibility

• Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a Government recognised institute, or a degree in Mechanical Engineering from an Indian university, or AMIE Section (A & B).
• Domicile: The candidate must be a domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and hold a valid domicile certificate on or before the last date of application.
• Age limit (as on 01.01.2026): Open Merit 40 years; SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS and OBC 43 years; persons with physical disability 42 years. Ex-servicemen can deduct their service period from their age if the result is not more than 3 years above the limit.

Application Fee

• General (Open Merit, OBC, RBA, ALC/IB): Rs 600
• SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD: Rs 500
• Fee is paid online by net banking, credit card or debit card. It is not refundable.

Selection Process

• Selection is only on the basis of merit in the written / OMR examination.
• The paper has objective-type multiple choice questions in English only.
• There is negative marking of one-fourth of the marks for each wrong answer.
• The syllabus will be notified separately on the JKSSB website.
• Qualified candidates go for document verification.

How to Apply

• Apply only online on the JKSSB website (www.jkssb.nic.in) between 16 November 2026 and 15 December 2026.
• Keep ready the photo, signature, domicile certificate, category certificate (valid on the cut-off date) and qualification certificates.
• After submitting, take a printout of the application form for document verification. Do not send hard copies to the Board.
• In-service candidates must also submit the form through proper channel.
