VNSGU Professor of Practice Recruitment 2026 Apply

Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), Surat has invited online applications and nominations from distinguished experts for engagement as Professor of Practice in its post-graduate departments for the academic year 2026-27, under advertisement No. Gen/PoP/23393/2026 dated 06/10/2026. The engagement is purely temporary and contractual, initially for one year, and the honorarium is Rs 2,000 per hour. This is a rolling advertisement: the last date for the First Batch is 30/10/2026 (11:59 hrs), and after that the online window opens from the 1st to the 20th of every month up to 30/07/2027. The notice does not give a total number of posts; the department-wise subject areas are in Appendix-A on the university website.

Eligibility

• Distinguished experts with proven expertise in their profession or role, with at least 15 years of service or experience, preferably at a senior level, in fields such as engineering, science, technology, entrepreneurship, commerce, social sciences, media, literature, fine arts, civil services, armed forces, the legal profession, rural development and public administration.
• A formal academic qualification is not considered essential where the candidate has exemplary professional practice. Such experts are exempted from the requirement of publications.
• For departments running AICTE programmes, the Government of Gujarat resolution dated 14/10/2024 also applies: Ph.D. with 10 years of relevant experience in a large conglomerate; or a Master's degree with 15 years of such experience; or B.E./B.Tech. with 17 years of relevant experience; or Ph.D./Master's/B.Tech. with at least five patents and 5 years of experience in a start-up.
• Not eligible: persons in the teaching profession, whether serving or retired. Their applications will be rejected.

Tenure and Honorarium

• The first engagement is for one year, which may be extended up to three years in all, and one more year of extension may be given once on the basis of exceptionally good performance.
• The honorarium is Rs 2,000 per hour. No service benefits, E.P.F., gratuity or perks are given.
• Mileage allowance for university work is paid as per the Government of Gujarat rates (for example Rs 11 per km for a petrol car and Rs 2.50 per km for a scooter or motor cycle). No travelling or daily allowance is paid for attending the Selection Committee or interview.
• The post is a fixed-term engagement and gives no right to regular appointment or seniority. The number of Professors of Practice cannot exceed 10% of the total sanctioned posts of all departments.

Selection Process

• Selection is as per Ordinance-189 and the university circular dated 15/04/2023.
• The Vice-Chancellor may also invite nominations or nominate eminent experts directly, with biodata and the written consent of the expert.
• The Selection Committee has the Vice-Chancellor or the representative, the Head of the Department, the Dean of the Faculty, two subject experts and one eminent external member. The minimum quorum is four members.
• Meeting the eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to be called before the Selection Committee. After the committee's recommendation the university approves the engagement and issues a letter of engagement.

How to Apply

• Apply online only through the Google Form given on the VNSGU website (www.vnsgu.ac.in). No physical application is accepted.
• The form fields are in Annexure-I. Keep the information and soft copies of documents ready.
• Upload all supporting documents in PDF format. Originals must be produced for verification when called for.
• You may apply for more than one department or subject area by giving the order of preference, but a separate submission is needed for each department. Your consent to serve as Professor of Practice must be recorded in the form.

General Conditions

• Incomplete applications or those without the required uploads may be rejected.
• The university may add or delete any department or subject area, change the number of engagements, or cancel the advertisement in whole or in part at any stage without giving a reason.
• Any suppression or misrepresentation of facts will lead to cancellation of candidature or termination of engagement.
• The decision of the university on eligibility, shortlisting and selection is final. All disputes are subject to the courts at Surat.
