MERC CGRF Chairperson Recruitment 2026 - 33 Posts

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has issued a detailed advertisement to fill 33 Chairperson posts in the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forums (CGRF) across Maharashtra. The appointment is made under Section 42(5) of the Electricity Act, 2003. Applications must be sent to The Secretary, MERC, so as to reach on or before 25 November 2026, 5.00 pm. Pay ranges from Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 per month.

Vacancy Details

The posts are spread across locations of MSEDCL and other licensees, with one post for each location. Pay differs by location: Rs 50,000 per month for some and Rs 40,000 per month for others.

Some locations have posts falling vacant on set dates: Kalyan-1 Circle (05.01.2027), Thane Urban Circle (18.01.2027), Nashik Urban Circle (09.01.2027), Rastapeth Urban Circle (06.01.2027), Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd (05.01.2027) and EON Kharadi Infrastructure Pvt Ltd-I, Pune (04.01.2027).

Eligibility

• The Chairperson must be a retired senior judicial officer, a retired civil servant not below the rank of Additional Collector or equivalent, a retired Principal of a reputed engineering college, a retired Professor of the Electrical Engineering Department of a reputed institute, or a retired senior electrical engineer of the Government.
• Working knowledge of the vernacular language of the State of Maharashtra is preferred.
• The term is three years, which the Commission may extend by up to two more years, subject to an overall age limit of 65 years.
• An applicant can give up to five preferred locations.

The official advertisement does not mention any application fee.

Selection Process

• If needed, the Commission may hold an interview.
• Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee selection.
• Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
• False or incorrect information leads to rejection of candidature.
• The decision of the MERC is final.
