GSSSB Work Assistant Recruitment 2026: 1663 Posts

The Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB), Gandhinagar has published Advertisement No. 461/2026-27 for direct recruitment to 1663 posts of Work Assistant, Class-3. The posts are in the Central Designs Organisation (CDO), Gandhinagar, which works under the Narmada, Water Resources, Water Supply and Kalpsar Department of the Government of Gujarat. Candidates with a Diploma in Civil Engineering, or one of the equivalent diplomas listed in the notice, can apply online on the OJAS website from 15 October 2026 (7:00 PM) to 29 October 2026 (11:59 PM).

Vacancy Details

Out of the 1663 posts, 113 are reserved for persons with disabilities and 166 for ex-servicemen. The board says the number of posts may go up or down.

Eligibility

• Education: Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Technical Examination Board or a recognised university or institution, or one of the 23 equivalent diplomas recognised by the department, such as Diploma in Civil (Construction), Construction Technology, Civil Draftsman, Survey Engineering or Transportation Engineering. Candidates holding a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering are not eligible.
• Computer: basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
• Language: adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
• Age: 18 to 33 years as on 29 October 2026.
• Age relaxation: 5 years for general category women and reserved category men (up to 38 years), 10 years for reserved category women (up to 43 years), 10 years for general category men with disabilities (up to 43 years), 15 to 20 years for other candidates with disabilities (up to 45 years), and the period of military service plus 3 years for ex-servicemen.

Salary

• First five years: fixed pay of ₹26,000 per month, with the other benefits of the fixed-pay scheme.
• After five years of satisfactory service: regular pay scale of ₹25,500 to ₹81,100 (Level-4, 7th Pay Commission), subject to the conditions given in the notice.

Application Fee

• General (unreserved) category: ₹500
• All women, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen: ₹400
• The fee is paid online only (debit card, internet banking, UPI or wallet) after the application is confirmed, by 1 November 2026. Transaction charges are extra.
• The fee is refunded to candidates who appear in the exam.

Exam Pattern

• There is one MCQ paper with Part-A and Part-B, held on OMR or as a computer-based test (CBRT).
• Total time: 3 hours (180 minutes) for both parts together.
• Negative marking: one-fourth of the marks of the question is cut for every wrong answer.

Selection Process

• The merit list is made on the marks (or normalised marks) of the competitive exam.
• Widow candidates and candidates with recognised sports achievements get 5% of their marks added, as per the rules.
• All certificates are checked before the final selection.

• Complete the One Time Registration (OTR) on the OJAS website, if not done already.
• Open Online Application, choose GSSSB and select Advertisement No. 461/2026-27 (Work Assistant, Class-3).
• Fill in personal, educational and bank account details, upload the photo and signature, and save the form.
• Click Confirm Application and note the confirmation number.
• Pay the fee online by 1 November 2026 and print the application and the fee receipt.
• If more than one application is confirmed, only the last confirmed application (with fee, for unreserved candidates) is valid.
