Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat has invited applications under Advertisement No. Estt./2026/Prof/1600 dated 16 October 2026 for the post of Professor (Pay Level 14A) in various departments. The tentative vacancy is 5 posts: 1 Unreserved, 1 SC and 3 ST. Vacancy Details

The vacancies are in the departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Civil Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and Humanities. The number of posts may change at the time of the final selection.

Eligibility

• A Ph.D. in the relevant discipline, with first class in the preceding degrees (Bachelor's degree onwards). If first class is not mentioned, at least 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate is needed.
• Experience, credit points and other conditions are as per Schedule E of the NIT Statute (Gazette of India, 24 July 2017), given in Annexure-I of the advertisement.
• The degrees must be from an institution or university recognised by the UGC, AICTE, AIU or the Government of India. Foreign degrees are considered if they are from institutions up to rank 500 in the QS or THE world ranking.
• Part-time, teaching assistant or visiting faculty experience is not counted.

Application Fee

SC, ST, PwD and female candidates, and the faculty members of SVNIT, pay no fee. All other candidates pay a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 1,000 for each application, online only. A candidate who applies to more than one department must apply separately, with a separate fee.

Selection Process

The Institute screens the applications through a committee and may call the shortlisted candidates for a presentation or an interview. Only Indian nationals can apply.

How to Apply

• Apply online at the SVNIT recruitment portal (svnitrec.samarth.edu.in) and upload a recent colour photograph.
• Download the filled application form and the credit point summary sheet, sign them, number every page and attach the self-attested documents and the proof of fee.
• Send the hard copy to the Deputy Registrar (Establishment), SVNIT, Ichchhanath, Dumas Road, Surat 395007, Gujarat, to reach by 09.12.2026, 5:00 PM.
• An application without the hard copy or without the required fee will be rejected.
