Prasar Bharati's News Services Division (NSD), Akashvani, New Delhi has invited applications for the post of Newsreader-cum-Translator (Urdu) on a casual assignment basis. The hiring is open to Indian-origin candidates living in Delhi and NCR. Applications must be sent in the prescribed format and must reach the office on or before 23.11.2026 (6 pm).

Eligibility

• Essential: Graduate from a recognised university.
• Essential: Diploma or degree in Journalism/Mass Communication.
• Essential: Proficiency in English and Urdu language.
• Essential: A voice suited to broadcasting.
• Desirable: Diploma or degree in Translation, two years of journalistic work in Radio/TV/Print, and knowledge of basic computer applications.
• Age: Not less than 21 years and not more than 50 years.

• General category: Rs.354/- (including GST), non-refundable
• SC/ST/OBC: Rs.266/- (including GST), non-refundable
• Pay by bank draft in favour of PB:DG (News), NSD, AIR, New Delhi, or online at State Bank of India, Parliament Street New Delhi. Attach the UTR details with the application if paid online.

Selection Process

• Stage 1: Written test of 100 marks lasting three hours. It covers translation from English to Urdu and vice-versa, short notes on current affairs and general knowledge. All answers must be in Urdu. Candidates scoring 50 or more are called for the voice test.
• Stage 2: Voice test and interview, each of 100 marks. The Selection Committee recommends candidates scoring 50 or more, subject to approval by the Head of Office, Director General (News), for empanelment.
• The written test, voice test and interview will be held in Delhi. No TA/DA is admissible.
