Jharkhand Home Guard, Latehar has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 for enrolment of 457 Home Guards in Latehar district: 446 rural and 11 urban. Applications are online from 17 November 2026 to 1 December 2026. The notice clearly says Home Guard is a voluntary body. Members get a duty allowance only on days they are deployed, and this is not a salaried government job or a means of livelihood. Enrolment is for 4 years.

- Rural vacancies by block: Latehar 33, Chandwa 38, Balumath 32, Bariyatu 36, Herhanj 50, Manika 30, Barwadih 39, Mahuadanr 37, Garu 41, Saryu 110.
- 50% of posts are for women, and 5% of those are for divorced, deserted or widowed women.
Eligibility
- Rural: permanent resident of the same block of Latehar district. Urban: ordinary resident of the urban area of the district.
- Age: 19 to 40 years.
- Education: at least Class 7 for Rural and Class 10 for Urban.
- Height: men 162 cm (157 cm for ST/SC), women 148 cm.
- Chest (men): 79 cm (76 cm for ST/SC).
- Technical Urban candidates need a skill such as doctor, engineer, advocate, nurse, computer operator, typist, licensed driver, cook, carpenter, electrician or plumber.
Application Fee
- Rs 100, paid online. The application is accepted only after payment.
Selection Process
- Physical test: 1 mile run, high jump, long jump and shot put. Men over 6 minutes and women over 10 minutes in the run are disqualified (8 and 12 minutes for Technical Urban).
- Hindi writing test: qualifying, Class 7 level for Rural and Class 10 level for Urban, 30 out of 100 to pass.
- Technical test for Technical Urban candidates: qualifying, 30 out of 100.
- National and state sports prize winners get extra marks.
- Merit list, then medical check and police verification, then basic training before enrolment.
How to Apply
- Apply on the JAP-IT recruitment website of Jharkhand between the dates above. Rural and Urban forms are separate.
- Upload residence, caste, education, skill and sports certificates issued before the last date, with photo and signature.
- Only one application is allowed, and only from your own block or urban area.
