GRSE Recruitment 2026 - 58 Journeyman and Driver Posts

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE), a Navratna defence shipyard under the Ministry of Defence, has notified 58 posts through Employment Notification No. 2026/05 (J&OP). There are 55 Journeyman places in 14 trades and 3 posts of Driver (Vehicle). Online registration runs from 30 October 2026 to 28 November 2026 at 11:59 PM.

• Electrician: 8
• Electronic Mechanic: 6
• Fitter: 6
• Painter: 6
• GRP/FRP Worker: 4
• Pipe Fitter: 4
• Rigger: 4
• Structural Fitter: 4
• Machine Operator: 3
• Carpenter, Crane Operator, Diesel Mechanic, Driver (Material Handling) and Welder: 2 each

Eligibility

• Journeyman: 10th pass with NAC or NTC in the trades given for each post.
• Driver (Vehicle): 10th pass with a valid commercial LMV licence and at least 6 years of post-qualification driving experience.
• Qualification and experience are counted as on 1 October 2026.
• Candidates with higher professional qualifications, such as a graduate degree, are not eligible.

Age Limit

• Journeyman: maximum 26 years as on 1 October 2026.
• Relaxation: 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST where posts are reserved.
• PwBD: 10 years for UR, 13 years for OBC-NCL and 15 years for SC and ST.
• Ex-servicemen and ex-Agniveers have separate relaxation. Read the notification for the Driver post rules.

Stipend

• Journeymen train for 2 years on a fixed stipend.
• First year: Rs. 24,000 a month.
• Second year: Rs. 26,000 a month.
• PF applies, and ESI where applicable. First aid and a subsidised canteen are also provided.

Application Fee

• Rs. 472, paid online. It is non-refundable.
• SC, ST, PwBD and internal candidates are exempt.

How Selection Works

• With many applications, GRSE may shortlist on marks in the qualifying examination.
• Selection is by a pen and paper OMR test, followed by a Practical (Trade) Test.
• The written test will be held in Kolkata and Ranchi, and no TA is paid.
• Trade questions carry 80 marks, as per the syllabus on the GRSE website.
• Driver (Material Handling), Rigger and Crane Operator candidates also take a qualifying Physical Efficiency Test.
